EXPEDITION ACADEMY – Summer Capstone Expedition
Prep Day: August 17th, 10 AM – 4 pm
Capstone Expedition: Monday August 24– Friday August 28th, 2026
Post-Capstone Slideshow & Dinner: Sunday, August 30th, 206
This is the culminating adventure for the 2025–2026 Expedition Academy cohort. Open to students enrolled in this year’s program, the capstone is a week-long summer expedition designed to put their skills into practice.
This year’s trip includes rock climbing and alpine objectives. The first part of the week will focus on top-rope climbing, followed by a backpacking expedition with the goal of summiting South Sister or other non technical peaks. Alternate plans may be implemented due to weather, wildfire conditions, or permit availability.
What is Expedition Academy?
Expedition Academy is a comprehensive, year-long program developed by Adventure Ready NW for participants who want to grow in independence—both in outdoor adventure settings and in everyday life.
Through an immersive curriculum, with breaks between terms and over the summer, students build skills progressively throughout the year. The fall term focuses on developing healthy habits. In the winter term, participants learn practical tools to keep their minds, bodies, and environments safe. During the spring term, the focus shifts to preparing the skills needed for the summer capstone trip.
At its core, Expedition Academy is about living out the philosophy that we can do hard things—and equipping the crew with the habits, tools, and skills to confidently pursue challenges.
Registration Includes:
Transportation, staffing and guide services
Meals and snacks
All group gear and equipment (a personal packing list will be provided in early July)
GEAR: Large day pack and adjustable hiking poles to keep
An adventure of a lifetime
