From Academies to Recreation Programs to Overnight Camps, we have some great programs lined up for you! To register, look through this page and “add to cart” all the programs you want to participate in. If you prefer not to pay all at once, follow the check-out directions to be invoiced!

Scholarships: We believe everyone should have the opportunity to experience the growth, confidence, and joy of outdoor adventure. Thanks to the generosity of our community members, we have sliding-scale scholarships available based on individual need and program costs, helping keep our programs accessible to all.

Fall Term Expedition Academy – Monday Cohort (Returning Students)

Program Overview: The Monday Cohort is our established Expedition Academy group for returning students who have already completed at least one year of Expedition Academy & a Summer Capstone. This close-knit cohort continues building on the skills, relationships, and confidence developed during previous years while taking on greater independence, leadership, and personal responsibility.

Throughout the year, students continue strengthening healthy habits, expanding life skills, and preparing for increasingly challenging adventures. As returning participants, they play an active role in supporting one another, mentoring peers, and working toward meaningful personal goals.

Students will:

  • Build greater independence in daily living and decision-making

  • Strengthen healthy habits related to food, fitness, technology, and time management

  • Continue developing emotional regulation and challenge-zone strategies

  • Practice adaptive first aid and CPR

  • Develop leadership, teamwork, and communication skills

  • Plan, prepare for, and complete a summer capstone adventure

  • Receive individualized coaching and mentorship throughout the year

What a Typical Day Looks Like: We begin the day at Gladstone 24 Hour Fitness with a group workout, followed by showers and getting ready for the day. We then head to lunch where students practice ordering meals, trying new foods, and making healthy choices. In the afternoon, we meet at the local library for hands-on lessons, discussions, and activities centered on that week's topic.

Fall Term Focus: The fall term emphasizes strengthening the core habits that support long-term success. Students continue building independence through healthy routines, self-awareness, executive functioning, technology management, fitness, nutrition, and daily living skills while setting personal goals for the year ahead.

Through a combination of community-based learning, fitness, life skills development, outdoor education, and adventure experiences, students build confidence, increase independence, and develop practical tools they can apply in everyday life. Throughout the year, participants receive individualized coaching while becoming part of a supportive team environment.

Students will:

  • Develop greater independence in daily living skills

  • Build healthy habits related to food, fitness, technology, and time management

  • Increase self-awareness, confidence, and personal responsibility

  • Learn strategies for navigating challenges and stepping outside their comfort zone

  • Practice adaptive first aid and CPR skills

  • Complete a Mini Capstone Project during the spring term to apply their skills and prepare for future Expedition Academy adventures

Each week combines real-world practice with guided instruction, helping students develop confidence, independence, and the skills needed to navigate everyday challenges.

Program Structure: Expedition Academy is intentionally designed as a progression of growth. Each term builds upon the one before it, layering essential skills and experiences across three core areas:

  • Fall: Habits- Building the daily routines, awareness, and mindsets needed for consistency and personal growth. Students focus on developing healthy habits around nutrition, fitness, technology use, time management, and daily responsibilities.

  • Winter: Tools- Equipping students with the practical tools and strategies needed to increase independence, manage challenges, and confidently navigate new experiences.

  • Spring: Skills- Developing and applying hands-on skills through real-world practice, culminating in a student-led Mini Capstone Project.

RECREATION: Hiking 101

Explore the beauty of the Pacific Northwest one step at a time! Join us for a 4-week hiking series at Tryon Creek State Natural Area. Each week, we’ll hit the trails together, building strength, confidence, and connection along the way. This series is perfect for anyone looking to stay active, spend time in nature, and enjoy the changing seasons under the trees. We’ll focus on trail awareness, pacing, gear tips, and building community—whether you're a beginner or a returning hiker. Expect a mix of movement, conversation, and time to pause and enjoy the forest around us. Let’s lace up our boots and hit the trail—rain or shine!

RECREATION: Climbing with Friends

Take your climbing to the next level while connecting with fellow climbers in our Community Climb class! Meeting every other Tuesday at The Circuit, this ongoing class focuses on refining technique, building confidence, and tackling new challenges on the wall. Participants will work on dynamic movement, problem-solving, and climbing strategy while receiving personalized coaching and encouragement. Whether you're looking to improve your skills or simply enjoy climbing with a supportive group, this class offers a welcoming environment to learn, grow, and challenge yourself alongside others. Come for the climbing, stay for the community—we'll see you every other Tuesday!

RECREATION: Fall 5K Running Group: Train & Race Together

Wed.11/11, 11/18, 11/25 (virtual) & 12/2, 4-5:30 pm

Whether you're training to race a 5K or just getting into running, this group is for you! We'll build endurance, improve running skills, and stay motivated through guided runs and supportive coaching. Participants can train at their own pace while working toward personal goals. For those interested, we'll wrap up the season with the optional Ho Ho Ho 5K hosted by X-Dog Events on Sunday, December 6, at Cook Park in Tigard. Race registration is not included. 11/25 is a virtual, own-your-own run coordinated with ARNW staff, due to the holiday.

THRIVING ADVENTURE: Oregon Coast Adventure Day

Join us for a fun-filled day exploring the beautiful Oregon Coast! Enjoy scenic views, fresh ocean air, and time to visit local coastal attractions, browse charming shops, or simply relax by the beach. On our way home, we'll stop for a delicious group meal before returning, making for the perfect ending to a memorable day trip.

THRIVING ADVENTURE: Fall Family Hike

Grab your lunch, lace up your hiking shoes, and bring your sense of adventure! We'll spend a beautiful fall day exploring trails near Mt. Hood or in the Columbia River Gorge—both offering stunning views, crisp mountain air, and vibrant autumn colors. We'll meet at 11 AM and wrap up around 3 PM. Expect a moderate hike, plenty of time to enjoy the scenery, and a chance to share lunch together in the great outdoors. Exact trail location will be shared closer to the date. $25 per person

THRIVING ADVENTURE: Timberline Lodge & Pacific Crest Trail Hike

Spend a crisp fall day exploring the historic Timberline Lodge and hiking a scenic stretch of the Pacific Crest Trail. Nestled on the slopes of Mt. Hood, Timberline offers rich history, stunning alpine views, and cozy lodge vibes. After exploring the lodge, we’ll head out on the PCT for a breathtaking hike through high mountain meadows, volcanic landscapes, and golden fall foliage. THRIVING ADVENTURE: Fall Festival Fun at Liepold Farms & Dinner

We'll explore the pumpkin patch, wander through the corn maze, enjoy seasonal treats, and soak up all the sights and sounds of fall. After our time at the festival, we’ll head to a cozy local spot for a relaxed group dinner. It’s the perfect way to enjoy a crisp autumn day with friends, laughter, and a little adventure.

THRIVING ADVENTURE: Parks and Tacos

Spend the day enjoying the beauty of the Pacific Northwest with a scenic hike through Milo McIver State Park. We'll explore the park's peaceful trails, take in beautiful forest views, and enjoy the fresh air together. After our hike, we'll head into Estacada for some delicious tacos before making our way to a nearby lake to relax, unwind, and soak up the scenery. It's the perfect combination of adventure, great food, and laid-back time with friends before we wrap up another memorable day together.

Experience the magic of Bike the Lights as we enjoy a festive evening ride through dazzling holiday light displays. We'll take in the colorful scenery, enjoy the fun atmosphere, and celebrate the season together. After the ride, we'll head out for a delicious dinner where everyone can relax, share highlights from the evening, and wrap up a memorable night with great food and great company. Join us for an active and fun-filled day at the Portland Rock Gym in Beaverton! We'll spend the morning bouldering—whether you're new to the wall or an experienced climber, there's something for everyone. PRG offers a supportive and exciting indoor climbing experience with routes for all levels. After we've worked up an appetite, we’ll head over to Si Señor Family Mexican Restaurant for a delicious lunch and time to relax together. CAMP: Winter Family Adventure Camp

Location: Camp Kiwanis, Mt. Hood

Celebrate the magic of the season at our Winter Family Adventure Camp at Camp Kiwanis on Mt. Hood. This special weekend is designed for families to spend quality time together while enjoying the beauty of winter through outdoor adventures, creative activities, and cozy traditions.

What to Expect:

  • Comfortable Lodge Accommodations: Stay in our welcoming mountain lodge, the perfect home base for winter adventures and time to relax together.

  • Snowshoeing or Winter Hiking: Weather permitting, we'll head out on guided snowshoe adventures to explore the scenic winter trails of Mt. Hood. If snow levels are too low for snowshoeing, we'll enjoy a group hike instead. No prior experience is necessary, and all skill levels are welcome.

  • Festive Evening Activities: Enjoy a Christmas movie night complete with hot cocoa and a cozy atmosphere.

  • Creative Winter Fun: Decorate gingerbread houses, participate in winter-themed arts and crafts, and enjoy activities designed for all ages.

This camp is open to families of all kinds. Parents, siblings, and other loved ones are encouraged to join in the experience. Whether you're trying winter activities for the first time or returning for another snowy adventure, we'll provide the support, equipment, and welcoming environment to help make it a memorable weekend.

If your family isn't able to attend, you're still welcome to register as an individual participant and enjoy the weekend with us.

Camp Schedule: Arrival: Friday, 4:00–5:00 PM / Departure: Sunday, 10:00–11:00 AM

Drop-Off/Pick-Up Location: Families may choose to meet directly at Camp Kiwanis or at our shuttle location in Welches. Shuttle transportation from Welches to camp will be available if winter road conditions are not ideal. Additional details will be provided upon registration.
